Accessibility

This website is built to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA, the level adopted in India as IS 17802, the Bureau of Indian Standards accessibility standard, and referred to in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

In April 2025 the Supreme Court of India held that digital access is part of the fundamental right to life and liberty. We take that seriously rather than treating accessibility as an optional extra.

• Every page can be used with a keyboard alone, and the item you are on is always visibly outlined.
• A “skip to content” link lets screen-reader and keyboard users jump past the menu.
• Text and background colours were checked by calculation, not by eye, to meet the AA contrast requirement.
• Every image that carries meaning has a text description; decorative images are hidden from screen readers so they do not add noise.
• Headings run in proper order, so a screen reader can navigate the page by structure.
• Form fields have real labels, and errors are announced rather than only shown in colour.
• Text can be enlarged to 200% without the layout breaking or content being cut off.
• Buttons and links are large enough to tap comfortably on a phone.
• Animation is reduced automatically if your device is set to prefer reduced motion.

Being honest is more useful than claiming perfection:

• The map is a Google Maps window. We do not control its accessibility, so the full address is also written out as plain text next to it, and we are glad to give directions over the phone.
• This site has not yet had an independent accessibility audit by a third party. We state what we have tested ourselves and no more.
